Baseball Post: 3-picks - Anaheim, Milwaukee, Mineapolis

May 13
Jarrod Washburn (2-5) (SEA) vs. John Lackey (3-3) (LAA)
The former Angel takes on a current Angel starter with an extra day's rest thanks to a rain out in Chicago earlier this week. These guys seem well matched.
update: final score - SEA 5, LAA 4 (13 innings) -- W - George Sherrill, L - Kevin Gregg, SV - Jake Woods
Washburn seemed to be getting just a bit too high in the strike zone and that led to some hits, crooked numbers on the scoreboard and the obligatory Vladimir Guerrero home run. Lackey answered by allowing plenty of offense of his own. In a game that ran into extra frames this one had a total of 9 runs on 25 hits and 3 ugly, ugly errors. These two teams are starting too look like the bottom of the division and I actually don't expect to see that from the Angels.
Jarrod Washburn: 5.2IP, 9H, 4R, 4ER, 1BB, 0SO, 1HR - ND
John Lackey: 7.0IP, 7H, 4R, 4ER, 0BB, 7SO, 2HR - NDMay 14
Pedro Martinez (5-0) (NYM) vs. Doug Davis (2-2) (MIL)
Martinez is due to lose one at some point this season. And I'll be pulling for Davis to take the improbable win in this one.
update: final score - NYM 5, MIL 6 (10 innings) -- W - Jorge de la Rosa, L - Chad Bradford
Two "picks" in a row now that take extra frames. This one was a wild one with Pedro turning in a great 10-strikeouts performance that the Mets bullpen couldn't make stand up. Meanwhile, the Brewer's bullpen had 2 blown saves in this one before Bill Hall's walk-off homer put an end to this one.
Pedro Martinez: 7.0IP, 4H, 4R, 4ER, 2BB, 10SO, 2HR - ND
Doug Davis: 5.0IP, 4H, 2R, 2ER, 5BB, 5SO, 0HR - NDMay 15
Freddy Garcia (5-1) (CHW) vs. Scott Baker (1-3) (MIN)
Go Freddy!
update: final score - CHW 7, MIN 3 -- W - Freddy Garcia, L - Scott Baker
Freddy flat out-pitched Baker on this one. And from Scott Podsednik's home run in the second it was all White Sox from there.
Freddy Garcia: 6.2IP, 7H, 3R, 3ER, 1BB, 3SO, 1HR - W
Scott Baker: 4.2IP, 11H, 5R, 5ER, 1BB, 4SO, 2HR - L
